We're playing another stage show with Dan Chouinard at the Fiztgerald Theater. It's called
Mambo Italiano and it's a look at the Italian roots of American popular song. It's a kind of follow-up the show we played with Dan in May 2005,
Café Europa. We'll have the full orchestra there and we'll be playing with Prudence Johnson, Peter Ostrushko and many others.
What does this have to do with Tango, you might ask. Italian music is the heart of Tango as well. All the great tango bandleaders have Italian names (Pugliese, Piazzolla, Canaro, D'Arienzo). It's kinda a stretch, but we're playing some opera (Rossini's La Danza, Leoncavallo's La Mattinata) and some Italian-American pop (Louis Prima's Buona Sera and Connie Francis' Mamma). We'll join Prudence Johnson in the famous tango "Jalousie" (which was actually written by a Dane, but it was popular in Italy, Argentina, and the US.)
It will be a fabulous show. Get your tickets now before they sell out! (Café Europa sold out and we expect the same to happen this year)
